Six strategic focus areas — each aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals — drawn from Zango's Strategic Plan 2025–2029 and guiding all our programs across Zambia.
Zango Foundation organises all its work around six strategic focus areas drawn directly from the Strategic Plan 2025–2029. Each area addresses a distinct but interconnected dimension of child and youth well-being in Zambia — from climate resilience and education to health, clean water, civic participation, and reproductive rights.
Every thematic area is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring that our community-level programs contribute to national and global development frameworks. We do not work in silos — our programs overlap and reinforce each other, creating holistic impact in the communities we serve.

Zango runs school support and sponsorship programs that remove financial barriers to education. Projects include supplying school uniforms and bags to hundreds of pupils, providing shoes to needy students, and the Creative Art Corner — where older children create artwork to fundraise and support their younger peers.
We believe access to quality education is the foundation for everything else: health, economic opportunity, and civic participation.

Zango empowers youth with climate-smart agriculture skills to address soil degradation and food insecurity. The Green Sprout project at Namabuyu Community School teaches crop rotation and soil conservation. We also organise tree-planting events — including on International Youth Day — to promote afforestation and environmental stewardship.

Our Nourish to Flourish feeding program provides nutritious porridge to hundreds of children three times a week, directly improving school attendance and health outcomes. Beyond feeding, we run health education sessions covering hygiene, immunisations, and mental health awareness.

Zango implements clean-water initiatives in rural communities. In one notable project, volunteers repaired a village water supply, transforming the daily lives of children like Pamela who previously had no reliable access to clean water. These efforts directly support healthier childhoods and better hygiene practices.

As a member of VIONET Zambia, Zango hosts youth dialogues on democracy, civic responsibility, and leadership. We organise community service events — including reusable pad-making workshops, market cleanups, and tree-planting campaigns with Habitat for Humanity Zambia — to build the next generation of community leaders.

Zambia has a significant proportion of the population below 20 years of age, who face inherent challenges related to Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (ASRHR). Zango raises awareness, promotes access to ASRHR services, and advocates for enabling policies to protect and empower young people.
